New Researchers Join the CIRUS Sleep Research Team
The Centre for Integrated Research and Understanding of Sleep (CIRUS) welcomes post doctoral fellow Dr Kate Sutherland, clinical research fellows Dr Sheila Sivam and Dr Kishani Kannangara, and PhD scholars Dr Philip Lee and Dr Gaurie Palnitkar, who recently joined our interdisciplinary sleep health research team. CIRUS Sleep Researcher Recognised
Professor of Sleep Medicine Ron Grunstein has received the prestigious 2010 Distinguished Achievement Award from the Australasian Sleep Association (ASA). Prof Grunstein, from the Central Clinical School and the Woolcock Institute, was recognised for his tremendous contribution and exceptional achievements in the fields of sleep health and sleep science by ASA members at their annual scientific meeting in Christchurch, New Zealand recently. Professor Grunstein heads the Sleep and Circadian Research Group at the Woolcock Institute and is chief investigator of the NHMRC Centre for Integrated Research and Understanding of Sleep (CIRUS) based at the University. The award has only been given twice previously, with both awards going to University of Sydney professors (Colin Sullivan and John Wheatley), highlighting the strength of sleep research at the University.
